Notes from the Council

At each Council meeting, there are items discussed and decisions made which it is felt should be communicated to the membership of the Fellowship. In July the list was rather long! Some of the points are listed here:

• The new data protection rules have resulted in a considerable reduction in the names on our mailing list. If you know of anyone who expected to receive the mailing and hasn’t, do please encourage them to contact the Membership Secretary – because without a personal application, they cannot be included on the list.

• Many people would like to be given training and support so that they can Witness at Fellowship meetings, and even lead a Quiet Day or Retreat. A new system of training is being prepared so that this support can be given locally: with the help of a Training handbook, a mentor will help with preparing someone to Witness. Using a common training process, we can be confident that the method and ideals of the Fellowship are being adhered to and advanced.

• The Council would like to expand the use of social and other media to promote the work of the Fellowship, but expertise is necessary to produce material. Assistance with managing the website would also be appreciated. Please get in touch if you are able to help.

• The commentaries contained in the twice yearly publication of Sayings for Stillness are now written by members of the Fellowship, and we benefit from these varied contributions. If you could select a Saying and write a commentary of not more than 400 words, we would be delighted to include them in a future edition. 

• Relevant items for inclusion in the Newsletter are always welcome. This might be articles, poems, book reviews or other appropriate material. 

• We are benefiting greatly from the attendance of Observers at Council meetings who are injecting fresh ideas, taking on tasks that need to be done and moving proposals forward. If you would like to contribute in this way, you would be welcomed at Council meetings as an Observer. Please make contact if you would like to talk further about the possibilities.
